The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail is a 500-mile marked trail from Port Arthur to Brownsville, including nearly 300 sites accessible to the public with maps and information on birds, sites, and local services. The first of its kind in the United States, the trail is co-sponsored by Texas Parks & Wildlife and the Texas Department of Transportation with coop-eration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Parks Service, and Texas coastal communities, businesses, private landowners and conservation organizations. Trail maps and a guide book are available through the Texas Department of Transportation highway information centers, Texas Parks & Wildlife, as well as other trail sponsors.
